Pleasant Hill places fourth at district wrestling tournament

Pleasant Hill will be represented by eight wrestlers in the state 3A tournament starting Friday at the Memorial Coliseum in Portland.
Titus Rice (145) a two time state champion is seeded first in that weight class and receives a first round bye.
Rice won the district title with 3:39 and 3:06 pins in the his opening matches followed by a 22-6 technical fall win in the finals on nine take downs and a three-point near fall.
The district meet was held on the Billie mats.
Asher Ruchti (160) earned a second seed and meets Michael Winn of Burns in his opening match.
Ruchti is also won a district title with a 1:21 pin and 11-5 decision.
Jack O’Connor, a freshman, won the third Billie district title and a fourth seed in the 113 pound class at state.
O’Connor recorded a 1:02 pin in the semis than a 15-0 third round technical fall in the finals on a three point near fall, his third of the match.
Jacob Pray (132) finished second at district and freshman Skylar Peters (138), Logan Parrish (160), Kellen Parrish (225) and Gavin Cantamessa (285) third to qualify for state.
Pray meets Christian Murdoch of Nyssa in the opening round while the other four Billies draw first round byes.
Pray used a 1:04 pin and 11-7 decision to reach the finals.
Peters lost his opening match, but pinned opponents in 34 seconds and 2:48 then opened a 9-1 first period lead and defeated Yamhill-Carlton opponent to place third.
Logan Parrish opening with a 4:54 pin, lost in the semis then used a 1:39 pin to finish third.
Cantamessa, a 220 pounder moved to 285, lost in the semis, but used a second period pin to place third.
