A Creswell graduate, a car dealership and a credit union recently made it possible for Creswell School District (CSD) to acquire a new sound system in the high school gym.
Devin Pratt, Creswell High School Class of 1999, presented CSD with a check for $2,500 on Feb. 11 on behalf of his employer, Lithia Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Fiat of Eugene, and through an Oregon Community Credit Union grant.
Pratt, of Creswell, has children in the CSD. He attended the Big Dawg Wrestling Tournament about a year ago and noticed the high school gym was in dire need of a sound system. Pratt said the system in place did not work, and the alternative systems were not adequate.
”The need was there,” Pratt said, so he worked with CHS Assistant Principal and Athletic Director Alan Stearns to identify what the needs were and how to get the funds.
”CHS is extremely grateful for the support from Devin Pratt, Lithia Dodge and Oregon Community Credit Union. Our school and community is enriched by these organization’s charitable donations,” Stearns said, as the funds will allow CHS to upgrade the replace the broken sound system in the auxiliary gym.
Stearns said the provided funds will cover the cost of an new amplifier, mixer board, conditioner, microphone and lockable cabinet to secure all the equipment.
”The sound system will be a huge benefit to the school as we will be able to host events in the auxiliary gym such as sporting tournaments, auctions, facility rentals and public meetings.”
Pratt is invested in the local schools and wants help ensure that, ”kids are proud of Creswell High and what (the school) has to offer.”
The project will be completed in the near future, Stearns said, as administration plans on having sound for our upcoming Booster Club auction in the spring.
