Creswell Heritage Foundation receives $25K grant

The Creswell Heritage Foundation (CHF) has been awarded a $25,000 Community Grant from the Fred W. Fields Fund of the Oregon Community Foundation. The grant’s purpose, as expressed in the notification of the grant award, is “to restore Creswell’s historic schoolhouse by replacing the foundation, the porch and a portion of the framing, preserving the circa-1875 building for community use.”
With the addition of this funding to that already secured, CHF is able to proceed with the project. CHF expects to invite bid submissions for the project from qualified contractors by year end, with the project to be completed in spring 2019. Qualified contractors are those who have experience with historical buildings. Upon completion of the foundation replacement project, CHF will continue with the restoration of the exterior and interior of the schoolhouse, with the goal of completion in 2021.
Donations of labor, services, materials and cash are needed to supplement the grant funding.
A list of the in-kind needed is posted on CHF’s website: creswellheritagefoundation.org.
