DARRYL ANTHONY EASTLAND- MARCH 28,1944 – OCT. 12, 2018
Darryl Anthony Eastland, 74, of Creswell, was called home to heaven Oct. 12, 2018.
He was was born on March 28, 1944, in San Francisco, Calif., to Charles Francis and Camille Charlotte (Young) Eastland.
Lovingly referred to as that ”Hippie Surfer Dude,” Darryl loved the outdoors: hiking the woods, fishing, beach-combing, dirt and street-biking, gold-panning, photography, gardening and, of course, surfing. Though he was a very private person, he cherished time spent with family and friends.
He loved his Rock’n’Roll music, whether making it together with others, attending live concerts or just listening. His home was never without the loyal companionship of his many dogs.
Darryl enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a proud union electrician, easily making friends with his fellow tradesmen and retiring after serving for a year as his locals’ assistant business manager.
Darryl is survived by his wife and best friend of 39 years, Gwen (Pitney) Eastland; his ex-wife, Joann Gurka Pedron of Sunnyvale, Calif.; brothers William (Carol) and Thomas (Christa) both of Placerville, Calif.; sons Michael (Mary) of Eugene and Matthew of Carmichael, Calif.; daughters-in-law Stacy Gouveia of Eugene and Cortney Thayne of Springfield; grandchildren Timothy, Tanner, Jenny and Kaden; two nieces and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Frank Crews.
A celebration of life will be held in the Spring.
