I believe we have honest and honorable citizens on the Creswell School Board and in the administration; however, I also believe the recent decision to turn the finance decisions over to the School Superintendent is a cause for concern.
It isn’t a common thing for for the person responsible with making decisions on how and where money is spent, to also be the controller of funds. That is normally a committee responsibility, where the user requests the money and then an independent board approves or disapproves.
I’m not implying that there is dishonesty involved because I believe, as I said earlier, these are all honest persons. It is just a check and balance procedure that maintains the integrity of all concerned.
