Lanny Massey – Feb. 5, 1950 – Aug. 9, 2018

It is with extreme sorrow that the family of Lanny Ray Massey announces his passing after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Surrounded by family, his life ended on Thursday, Aug. 9, 2018, age 68, at Pete Moore Hospice House in Eugene.
Lanny was born on Feb. 5, 1950, to Darrell and Mary Massey in Fort Worth, Texas. He attended school in Las Vegas, Nev., graduating from Western High School in 1968.
After high school Lanny continued his family legacy of working in the bread baking industry at Nevada Baking Company in Las Vegas alongside his dad. For 33 years he delivered Wonder Bread for the same company as a route salesman throughout the Las Vegas valley.
Upon retirement he began honing in on his carpentry and masonry skills. In 2013, Lanny and his wife, Linda, moved to Creswell. Here he found a place to not only utilize those skills, but increase his knowledge about building houses as he helped construct 10 homes for Habitat of Humanity of Central Lane and worked on several Brush with Kindness projects.
Lanny is survived by his wife, Linda; four daughters, Lana Prescott (Randy), Lori Massey, Lisa Massey, Lindy Massey; sister, Teresa Massey; two stepsons, Jeris Stephens (Amber) and Trevor Stephens (Sarah); grandchildren, Riley, Raeanne, Kadence, Beckam, Michaela Watkins, Ayden Welk, Cason Stephens; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lanny’s life will be honored on the afternoon of Saturday, Sept. 8 in Las Vegas and another will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, at 4 p.m. at Oakway Golf Course in Eugene.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to Habitat of Humanity of Central Lane at www.habitatlane.org.
