Alleged rape under investigation at Super 8

Police are investigating an alleged rape at Super 8 Motel at 345 E. Oregon Ave.
On Friday, July 27 at at 10:49 a.m., Lane County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputies and Oregon State Police were called to the motel after someone reported being sexually assaulted.
Police located a man matching the description of the suspect a short time later, according to LCSO Sergeant Carrie Carver.
Louisiana man Jenry Jermaine Craft, 36, was arrested on charges of first-degree rape and attempted first-degree sodomy.
First-degree rape is a Measure 11 offense that carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of eight years, four months.
Sergeant Carver told The Chronicle that the case is still under investigation and no further information can be released at this time.
The District Attorney’s office did not return Chronicle phone calls by press time Tuesday.
