An impressive display of engines that assisted miners get the gold. ELI STOCKMAN/FOR THE CHRONICLE
Last week, Cottage Grove hosted the 59th Annual Bohemia Mining Days celebration, which highlights the history of how our familiar geographical names east of town came to be. The town went all out to celebrate the centennial of Oregon statehood in 1959, and haven’t stopped celebrating since! The family-friendly festival is organized by a board of community-minded volunteers who work closely with the festival coordinator throughout the year to ensure this annual summer tradition lives on for future generations to enjoy.
