Tractor Supply Company is Creswell’s latest retail addition. On Thursday, July 5, the rural lifestyle store opened its doors, commencing a four-day grand opening celebration that ended on Sunday, July 8.
”From what I can tell, there seems to be a lot of buzz,” Guy Lindgren, store manager, said. ”Creswell has a Facebook page where everyone is talking about it. We’ve had lots of good feedback. People are happy.”
Creswell is the second city in Oregon to home Tractor Supply, after the Ontario store, and it is located at 190 Emerald parkway. Lindgren said that Creswell’s agricultural background is why the location was chosen.
”Whether it’s working farms that produce fruits and vegetables, grass seed and hops or raising livestock and animals, Creswell has a rich history and lively agricultural community,” Lindgren said in a press release.
The family-friendly event gave customers an up to 10 percent discount, and on Saturday, July 7, they could receive a Tractor Supply hat and register for an opportunity to win a gift card.
One customer, Tony Butler, decided to visit the store when he saw a product he was searching for was available at Tractor Supply.
”I like it. It’s a big, box store, but it’s more down to earth than other places like this,” he said. ”I think it’s going to bring more people to Creswell because there’s no place like it in the area. There’s a Wilco and a Home Depot, but this is one step further.”
Tractor Supply focuses its services on farmers, ranchers, part-time and hobby farmers, livestock and pet owners, gardeners, homeowners, tradesman and more. Products are wide ranging from pet supplies, tractor and trailer parts and accessories, power tools, and gardening supplies. The store carries well-known brands, as well as Tractor Supply exclusives.
Along with products, the store will also included a pet washing station where customers have access to professional-grade tools. In the future, the store is also planning on hosting small events with local animal shelters, 4-H clubs and Future Farmers of America chapters.
”It’s a nice store for an outdoor lifestyle, and (the community) doesn’t have to drive into town,” Lindgren said. ”It’s just a little easier and more convenient for the community.”
Lindgren, who is originally from Iowa, gained his farming experience at a corn and soybean farm with his father, as well as through 4-H. He has been with Tractor Supply for three years.
”I’m excited to be in a new store and have the opportunity to build something, and to share it with the community,” he said.
Lindgren said that Tractor Supply provides a different service to the area, and it’s set apart by its customer service.
”Tractor Supply prides itself on its legendary customer service,” he said. ”That’s what we do.”
Tractor Supply was founded in 1938, and for 80 years has become the largest rural lifestyle chain retail store in the United States. The business employs 28,000 team members in over 1,700 stores in 49 states.
Over the course of the next year, Tractor Supply plans on opening five more locations throughout Oregon.
”I just want people to come in and check the place out,” Lindgren said. ”I hope they enjoy it.”
