More than 200 young girls in gorgeous frilly dresses and dads (or another male relative) filled the Creswell High School auxiliary gym and commons as Mr. Bulldog contestants and coordinators hosted their second annual Father-Daughter Dance on Saturday, March 17.
After last year’s event proved so popular, ”I had so many people come up to me and ask if this would become an annual thing that I couldn’t not keep doing it,” said Mr. Bulldog advisor, Barbara Sears.
The dance was a fundraiser for the Children’s Miracle Network, bringing in about $2,000.
”It is so amazing to see all those little girls with their fancy dresses and the dads all dressed up for this amazing fundraiser,” Sears said.
Father-daughter pairs first had their pictures taken and enjoyed dessert in the commons, before proceeding to the darkened gym, where colored lights swirled, and a DJ played lively child- and girl-oriented music, including songs from Disney movies.
Because of the tremendous community response to the Father-Daughter Dance, the school is spreading the love and fun to mothers and sons as well: the first Mother-Son Superhero Date Night will be held on April 14 at CHS.
