Lowell girls’ basketball team picks up win at Triangle Lake

Lowell’s girls remained unbeaten in Mountain West League basketball action with a 49-26 win at Triangle Lake last Thursday.
The Red Devils took a 9-6 first-quarter lead, then, after the Lakers tied the game at 11-11, they scored six straight points to take the lead for good.
Lowell led 21-14 at the half as Daisy Schnee, one of two seniors on the team, scored eight points in the second quarter including six from the free throw line.
The Red Devils opened the second half with eight unanswered points to lead 29-14 with 4:12 left in the third quarter.
Lowell pounded the ball inside against the undersized Lakers with Schnee scoring two baskets and Lily Lane and Lucy Plahn one each.
Lowell led 37-18 after three quarters, then opened the fourth with a 12-0 run that boosted the margin to 49-18. Lane and Plahn each scored a pair of hoops.
Schnee finished the game with 17 points including an 11-of-12 effort from the foul line.
She scored eight points in the second quarter and seven in the third.
Jenna Martini added nine points, Lane and Plahn eight each, Kylee Johnson, Katie Chapman and Nature Letts two apiece and Audra Chapman one.
The Red Devils travel to Alsea Jan. 11 and McKenzie Tuesday.
