School Board to hire attorney

Creswell School Board was called together in executive session on Monday, Aug. 13 at 6 p.m. to address complaints or charges brought against a public officer, employee, staff member or agent. The complainant and those the complaint were lodged against were also in attendance.
After open session reconveined, Director Natalie Smathers made the motion to hire an attorney to guide the board further with handling the complaint. Director Mike Anderson seconded the motion, and the motion passed unanimously.
Director Paul Randall said that he would like to see the matter concluded as rapidly as possible, and Director Dave Eusted added that expediting the processes is fairer to everyone involved, and he wants everyone to feel respected going through the process.
This motion comes after the hiring of a third-party investigator to explore the complaint, which was decided at the Friday, July 20 executive session meeting.
An executive, or ”closed,” session is closed to the public, but the media is allowed to attend under most circumstances. Though allowed, media does not report on executive sessions, except to state the general subject of the session and the action made outside of executive session.
The meeting adjourned at 6:42 p.m.
