Educators getting paid

On March 17, Gov. Kate Brown issued an executive order stating that, “Public schools shall continue to regularly pay all employees of public schools.”
Public schools subject to this order also can require school employees to report to work to assist with supplemental services and emergency management activities.
The Oregon School Boards Association (OSBA) recommends that schools start working with applicable collective bargaining units to come to agreements about which employees are working.
“There are tens-of-thousands of educators working in 127 school districts, educating over 580,000 students in the state of Oregon,” the Oregon Education Association published on its website, “and as the COVID-19 outbreak progresses, OEA will continue to work with elected officials to ensure the health and wellness of those students and educators is protected.”
