Community Newsroom – The Chronicle

Community Newsroom:

We meet you where you are

If you’re new here, you’ll soon realize that we tend to do things differently at The Chronicle.
Launched in May 2025, The Chronicle Community Newsroom is a unique natural evolution for our news and information business.
We’ve traded our isolated office space and replaced it with community spaces, increasing our exposure and interaction with the public by meeting them where they are—at local hubs like our libraries, coffee shops, and bookstores.
Our home base is the PublicHouse in Springfield, where we’ll have staff meetings and scheduled working hours during production in the shared workspace offices on the second floor. Off-deadline, you’ll find staff at our other Partner Places listed below.
Each week, we list our schedule in print and online, and we encourage folks to stop by, pull up a chair, and chat. Follow us on social, too, where we’ll post Community Newsroom photos and updates.

Supporting words from our partners
“The idea of the Community Newsroom is taking journalism back to its roots. If you want local news, hang where the locals are. Can’t wait to see what unique perspectives come out of this experiment.”
– Seth Clark, who owns Blue Valley Bistro in Creswell with his wife, Melissa

“We hope by supporting the Community Newsroom that local journalism and the community’s needs are aligned to the benefit of both. We hope it inspires innovation and collaboration between the newspaper and the communities it serves.”
– Greg Ingold, who owns Cottage Groove Books & Music in Cottage Grove with his wife, Lisa
