6/21 Piss Mist with special guest Callow Ruse - 8pm Free

Okay, so first of all, the cover of the Piss Mist side of the split has a cat that looks exactly like my cat, so obviously I’m drawn in. The first song on this side is called “Salute Deez Nuts” and includes incredibly unpatriotic lyrics with a momentary ’80s metal guitar solo, so I’m basically sold. Following that up with “Dialectical Immaterialism” is exactly the kind of irreverent smartass shit I love—like, yes I’m familiar with Marxist epistemology but that will not stop me from making a joke about balls when I’m talking about the pitfalls of pledging allegiance to a nation-state. And why are there funny jazzy breakdowns with spoken word overlaid? And the Wrinkled Rat side is no slouch either. It’s exactly what I want to hear in a sweaty basement; just super tight hardcore with a vision and a mission. Smart punk at its best; it’s amazing. Never stop doing what you’re doing, Piss Mist and Wrinkle Rat. I need more. Honestly and truly, this is probably the best thing I’ve ever been sent to review for Razorcake and it’s not just because it came with a handwritten note (though that didn’t hurt.)
