Egil Skallagrimson Tournament Period Archery Challenge
Hello Archers of An Tir:
Have you wanted to try period archery, but cannot afford the equipment? This is your chance to win a bow which qualifies to be used in An Tir’s Period Archery Category.
On Sunday morning, May 25th a competition will be held, the prize for which is the bow pictured in this post. The competition will consist of a simple royal round using period scoring. The scores will either be handicapped or a bonus given, depending on the rank of the archer.
Even though period scoring will be used, any bow which is legal for use in the SCA may be used to compete. Indeed, the goal of the Period Archery Challenge is to get period gear into the hands of those who do not have such. That is not to say competitors who already have period gear should not compete. All are welcome.
Alas, after more than a decade of hosting this challenge and providing the prizes, this might be the last year, due to the tariff situation.
