Placement of Pit and Fissure Sealants Certification Course
Program Fee: $375
Eligibility
Participants must be an Oregon Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) and be currently employed in a dental office
Course Overview
This Oregon Board of Dentistry approved 6 hour course includes both lecture based instruction and hands on clinical training. Participants will place pit and fissure sealants on a typodont mounted on a manikin, allowing them to practice indirect vision and proper technique.
After completing the instructional portion, students must document clinical experience by placing sealants in their employer’s office under the indirect supervision of a licensed dentist. Students are required to successfully place sealants on at least two fully erupted molar or premolar teeth according to the dentist’s prescription. An Oregon licensee must evaluate the completed sealants before the patient is dismissed. Students who meet all requirements will receive the Oregon Credential Certificate in Placement of Pit and Fissure Sealants.
