CRESWELL – Debby Handman conducted her first book signing event on Aug. 11 at Blue Valley Bistro. Her book, “House On Sand,” was released for purchase on Amazon on July 31.
Handman is a local author and blogger who lives in Creswell. She writes romantic novels that inspire women who have survived divorce. Her characters journey from the heart of pain to ultimate healing and joy.
Her new novel is fictional, but inspired by real-life events. Handman is a survivor of divorce and wrote the book to inspire other women on their own journeys of recovery.

Author Pat Edwards, a Chronicle contributor, and Jennifer Chambers are in the midst of reading, reviewing and editing more than 200 submissions sent by 59 contributors for their current project.
The short stories, essays, memoirs, nostalgia, poetry, and photography submitted each year are truly amazing.
Edwards said many of the Groundwaters contributors have been participating for a long time, but each year, they get new ones – some of whom are already published authors.
Others are frequently those who have never seen their work in published form before now, she said.
“All of them are talented people we want to honor in print. If you haven’t read one of our anthologies before, please look for them online (our local bookstores do not sell anthologies, unfortunately) or in your local libraries,” Edwards said.
She has donated these books and quarterlies to the Fern Ridge and Creswell libraries over the years, but they might need updates with the latest issues.
This has never been a “for-profit” endeavor, Edwards said. “Most of Jen’s and my labor is donated and the proceeds are used to cover our business license, taxes and website fees. As I said, it’s a labor of love that I will truly miss.”
Edwards has helped publish the Groundwaters anthology the past 10-plus years, and has announced that this will be her final year.
