PeakCU scholarships available

LANE COUNTY – The Peak Credit Union Foundation is inviting applications for its scholarship programs, which aim to support students in Washington and Oregon as the March 15 deadline approaches.

Across Washington and Oregon, the Foundation has invested nearly $1.8 million in education and food security initiatives. “It’s just a fantastic way to give back to those who are focusing on their education,” said Amanda Stevens, foundation and education development manager.

Each year, 44 general scholarships, each worth $2,000, are awarded to high school students or folks furthering their education, totaling $88,000. In addition to general scholarships, four legacy scholarships are offered. Applicants must be a member of PeakCU, have a letter of recommendation, and proof of enrollment in school.

“They’re based on not just financial needs, but also how much a student is involved in school and in the community, kind of equally weighted in that fashion,” Stevens said. “They can apply, essentially, if they receive it when they’re a high school senior, they can keep applying every year and potentially receive a scholarship every year that they’re in school.”

In addition to scholarships, the Foundation also gives out Classroom Cash for teachers to buy extra supplies for their classrooms. These could be educational tools like posters, magazines, games, or technology that enhance learning experiences. Stevens said these grants are open to teachers, counselors, and librarians who are PeakCU members, and the goal is to award $80,000 in grants.

Youth hunger is another focus of the Foundation. During the government shutdown in November and December 2025, PeakCU employees and the Foundation partnered with local food banks in Eugene, Cottage Grove, and Springfield and donated over 2,000 items. Over $1,000 was donated not only to Food for Lane County but also to the Oregon Food Bank, which supports many partner food banks.
