DEXTER – The Columbia Drag Boat Association (CDBA) presents the 2025 Bi-Mart Can-Am Challenge this weekend, about 16 miles southeast of Springfield on the Middle Fork Willamette River at Dexter Reservoir. The event features Canadian and American drag boat racers in the Pacific Northwest area competing to be the fastest boat on the water.
For adults, a single-day ticket is $15, and the entire weekend is $25. Kids 12 and under are free. The event starts on Saturday at 8 a.m. and runs until Sunday at 4 p.m.
CDBA, initially founded in the late 1960s, promotes the sport of drag boat racing in the Pacific Northwest region. Dexter Reservoir is considered the “home track” for CDBA. The non-profit organization holds three races at this location each year.
CDBA describes drag boat racing as “a high-speed motorsport that involves boats racing down a straight track, usually on a river or a lake.” In addition,” the boats are designed for maximum speed and acceleration, and the races are held over a 1,000-foot course. The goal of the race is to be the first boat to cross the finish line within the class registered.”
Following the Can-Am Challenge will be the Northwest Nationals, also in Dexter, from Sept. 20-21.
