Resch to be named interim SPD Chief

SPRINGFIELD – Jami Resch will be named interim chief of the Springfield Police Department on March 17 after a swearing-in ceremony at the Springfield Justice Center. 

According to the city’s biography, Resch brings 26 years of public safety and leadership experience to her new role. 

She has served in multiple leadership roles at the Portland Police Bureau (PPB),  starting as a Patrol Officer in ’99 and advancing through various roles, including Sergeant, Lieutenant, and Captain. 

Resch was a member of the Police Bureau’s Muslim Council, Slavic Advisory Council, and Refugee Integration Program. 

Resch earned a bachelor’s degree in Allied Health Sciences from the University of Portland, and is a graduate of both the FBI National Executive Institute and the PERF Senior Management Institute for Police. 

Ex-Chief Andrew Shearer resigned on Feb. 12. Shearer was appointed police chief in 2021.
