Grow’ve together for the greater good
My wife and I, after years of searching and due diligence, selected Cottage Grove as the place we wanted to become a part of a community and to spend the rest of our lives as useful, productive citizens.
Besides the beautiful surroundings and historic nature of Cottage Grove, a big part of what drew us here was the amount of collaborative community action to provide betterment of all through volunteer efforts. Organizations such as Community Sharing, Beds for Freezing nights, South Lane Mental Health, and others doing for Grovers of all stripes was very impressive.
On a lighter note, the Concerts in the Park tucked into the trees of Coiner Park, the Farmers Market and so many activities sealed the deal of wanting to become a part of this community. We bought a fixer-upper and worked to bring a 1910 house back to life. We joined many organizations dedicated to make the community better and to preserve its history. Rotary, CG Historical Society, W.O.E., and church. When our favorite place in the neighborhood, The Swinging Bridge, was closed we got involved to bring it back. And in the true spirit of this special community, through cooperative effort, it was restored!
How different it feels today 11 years later. I would be priced out of the housing market here. The united feeling to the community that drew me here is frayed; there is disagreement as to how to proceed in answering the big social issues facing our town as well as our state and nation. This is what caused me to choose to seek the Ward 3 Position as city councilor.

I pledge, if elected, to work with anyone for the greater good, as well as being accessible and open to ideas from the community different from my own.
Grow’ve Together.
