Dear Editor,
I have seen several articles of late regarding vocational/shop programs being taught in high schools. We have a similar program going with the restoration of the carousel, not high schoolers, but retired millwrights, etc.
The carousel itself is pretty much rebuilt. It is the gingerbread, rounding boards, mirror frames and chariots/benches that are being manufactured and painted now.
When people ask me about the carousel, both men and women are very interested in the woodworking aspect of the restoration. Right now, all that gingerbread is laid out on sawhorses, and it might be of interest to the viewing and reading public for a storyline.
