On Friday, July 29, 2022, Alois Geraldine Vaughn, loving wife and mother of three children, passed away peacefully at the age of 102 years young.
Alois was born in Upper Rat Creek, Ore. on January 14, 1920 to Marion “Lee” and Ora Alice Delilah (Powell) Thomason. Wayne Robinson and Alois Geraldine Vaughn had three beautiful children, Linda Pederson, Gary Vaughn and William “Bill” (Julie) Vaughn. Alois lived her entire life in the Dorena, Ore. area.
Her greatest passion in life was her family and caring for the home where friends and family could always find an open door. While her second passion was her hair, her family often enjoyed her great cooking and it’s widely believed that she fried up grouse like no one else. But her blackberry cobbler is famous far and wide. Later in life she found her love of painting, planning and hosting holiday dinners, spending time with her family, collecting wild flowers and family camping trips.
Alois is survived by her three children, Linda Pederson of North Bend, Ore., Gary Vaughn of Sweet Home, Ore., and William “Bill” (Julie) Vaughn of Eugene; five grandchildren, Rhonda (Rick) Flock of Post Falls, Idaho, Derek (Shanda) Vaughn of Swisshome, Ore., Mike (Shelyn) Bell of Petersburg, Alaska, Geoff (Lisa) Vaughn of Ferndale, Wash. and Jennifer (Brian) Johnson of Eugene; 10 great-grandchildren, Josh Flock, Hannah Flock, Brittni (Caleb) Callum, Kristen Bell, Casey (Noelle) Bell, Travis Vaughn, Griffin Vaughn, Ben Vaughn, Allie Johnson and Emi Johnson, 1 great-great grandchild, Magnus Callum; and two nephews, Tom (LaVonne) Wicks and Robert Wicks.
She is preceded in death by both her parents, Marion “Lee” and Ora Alice Delilah (Powell) Thomason, husband Wayne Robertson Vaughn, brother Vernon Thomason and sister Thelma Wicks.
The family would like to thank Sacred Heart Hospice and Magnolia Gardens Assisted Living for taking such special care of this wonderful lady. Arrangements in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel and Crematorium in Cottage Grove.
