Dennis Craig Twite, 74, passed away June 29 from a glioblastoma brain tumor. He was born February 13, 1948, to Gerald and Neva (Nelson) Twite in Veblen, S.D. Dennis graduated from Willamette High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam war. He married Eldena Hocker in March of 1968. Dennis worked in the lumber industry for more than 24 years and then for Kimwood Inc. for 29 years as a Field Service Maintenance Technician. Dennis was a deacon at The Church of Christ on 6th and Gibbs, he volunteered for Jr. High and High school groups and at Grove Christian Service Camp. He was a member and served as Commander at the local VFW Post #3473 and was an officer with District 13. He proudly served all veterans by marching in the BMD Parade carrying the USA or MIA flag, volunteering monthly at the rest area serving coffee and visiting veterans in local assisted living facilities. Dennis enjoyed elk hunting, camping trips with his family, snowmobiling and was a member of the Bohemia Snow Sledders. Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Dena Twite of Springfield; daughter, Tracie Moreno, of Eugene, son, Michael Twite, Boise, Id.; mother, Neva Twite; brother, David Twite; sisters, Jerrilyn, Sherri, and Cyndi; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held on July 8, at 3 p.m. at The Church of Christ, 6th & Gibbs, Cottage Grove.
