Darlene Marie (Carpenter) Burback, 77, of Cottage Grove passed away July 16, 2021. Darlene was born March 9, 1944 in Astoria, Ore. to parents Wilburn and Virginia (Leahy) Carpenter. She graduated from South Eugene High School in 1962, then married Garland Burback on Feb. 10, 1963 in Eugene, Ore. She was owner of the Cottage Grove Garbage Service. Darlene was very faithful to the Cottage Grove United Methodist Church, doing outreach programs and community service. She enjoyed making jewelry, beading, painting, gardening, walking, going to the beach, day trips to the casino, and having lunch and shopping with her girls. Her greatest joy was being a wife, mom, and grandma. Darlene is survived by her husband of 58 years, Garland; daughter Kimberly and (Darren) Glenn of Cottage Grove; daughter Lisa (Tim) Alverson of Eugene; siblings Rae Westcott, Carol Stock and Bill Carpenter; 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A private graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Memorial Park. Memorial donations can be made to Willamette Valley Cancer Institute & Research Center at 520 Country Club Rd., Eugene, OR 97401.
