Crow, Lorane granges ramping up activities

Saturday, June 19, between noon and 9 p.m., the Applegate Regional Theater (ART, Inc.) campus will be the venue for boxing matches put on by the West Eugene Boxing Academy and visiting clubs from out of the area. Then, on Saturday, June 26, you can be entertained with Americana and bluegrass music played by local groups Cherry Hill and Sugar Pines.

The Creswell Grange has begun to hold fundraiser events. Monthly bingo nights — albeit masked and socially distanced — have returned

The Lorane Community Association is sponsoring the Growers’ Market table located at the ex-Lorane Deli. According to Pam Kersgaard, “We accept donated seeds, plants, canning jars, non-expired canned goods/dry food, and any produce from your garden.” Donations received support the Lorane Community Association. … Plans are being discussed for a Community Yard Sale later this summer.

Lil Thompson of the Lorane Grange has told me that they are planning their first Dessert and Bingo night of the year on Friday, July 16, at 7 p.m. They may include dinner again later on.

The Crow Grange is planning its “Chicken ‘n Pickin’ BBQ” for the first Saturday in August, and the first bingo night might be Saturday, Sept. 18 and twice a month after that, on the first and third Saturdays of each month. More details on both will be included later. In addition, the grange is considering having line dancing on the last Saturday of July and August, as well.

Apparently, the Friends of the Fern Ridge Library have set up a Little Free Library at Applegate Elementary School in Crow. It sits at the edge of the parking lot. The books are free and it is hoped it will be a resource for kids to read over the summer. The “library” will be restocked regularly by a volunteer.
