President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial has been rocking the news. Nancy Pelosi (Aries-Dragon) and Adam Schiff (Cancer-Rat) are determined to remove Donald Trump from office. Donald Trump (Gemini-Dog) won’t go down easily. Of course, we are aware of this by observing his personality and behavior for decades. However, Chinese astrologers know this by examining his lunar birth sign. The year of the Rat (2020) is a lucky year for Dragons and Rats, but it is a lucky year for Dogs, too.
Dragons and Rats struggle toward their goals. They work hard, they are good people, and they only want the best for all concerned. The thing to consider when trying to tackle a Dog, however, is that Dogs have star quality, are compelling speakers, and are enveloped with charm and charisma. Dogs retain information like a magnet. They are well-read, they can breeze through schoolwork while others struggle and toil. They like fun with packs of friends, they delegate work, they love audiences, and audiences cannot resist a Dog. It’s tough to beat a Dog, even if they deserve it.
Bill Clinton (Leo-Dog) is a good example. When President Clinton was impeached, his bad behavior with Monica Lewinsky (Leo-Ox) was not the impeachable offense. He was impeached due to telling lies while under oath (to the Grand Jury) and obstruction of justice. He was impeached, but not convicted. Dogs notoriously step into scandal and misbehavior. They sometimes appear haughty or arrogant, but Dogs usually avoid getting fired from their jobs, even if they show up hungover, high, or fallible.
Dogs are likable and charismatic, friendly, and live as if they are above reproach. They tend to enjoy their lives and activities in the moment, and when confronted with disapproval, they respond with a whimper, an apology, and ask for help. They promise to do better. It is common for most people to forgive and forget the Dog’s bad behavior (except those who were directly damaged by the behavior). Dogs are so charming and friendly that friends and employers feel compelled to help them.
Although Dragons and Rats will enjoy a good measure of success during the Year of the Rat, Dogs will come through this year with loyal supporters (I will write more about the 2020 presidential election in the weeks ahead). President Clinton’s public approval rating rose during his scandal, and it would not be surprising if President Trump receives praise and sympathy for the hardship he endured due to the impeachment.
Dogs make excellent salespeople and irresistible actors. Most of the popstar legends were born in the Year of the Dog (see my Web site for a list of famous Dogs). They are talented and at their best when appearing live on stage, dancing, moving, or showing off! They like attention and are very entertaining.

I received an e-mail from a reader of The Chronicle who was born under the sign Sagittarius-Dog. She is highly educated and aspires toward a career in journalism. This sign is supremely suited for journalism, especially in front of the camera as a broadcaster, on-air reporter, and especially as a talk-show host. Dogs are quick-witted, able to fire back in a debate or heated interview, and able to joke and banter in an entertainment setting. Kelly Ripa and Megyn Kelly were both born in the Year of the Dog, both can be intense, but are appreciated more when they are smiling and having fun. This Sagittarius-Dog is heading toward a life of fun and excitement, and she has worked to set herself in the right direction.

Chinese astrology is fun, I enjoy referring to people as Dogs and Rats, but it is also a science. For more than 30 years I have collected data and tracked patterns and trends. Quickly I realized that Chinese astrology offered predictable patterns.
For many years I felt perplexed as it pertained to how, why, and what made it predictable. I struggled, attempting to figure out what caused a series of patterns and predictable personalities and behaviors. I felt it was not enough for me to appreciate the patterns and simply trust that the patterns were reliable, I needed to know the cause of its reliability. Finally, I found answers.
During my education in psychology, clinical counseling, and human services, I questioned a few of my professors regarding studies on Chinese astrology. I asked why I could not find empirical research on the subject. One professor suggested there is no way to measure results in a study of Chinese astrology. I disagreed (of course), but I knew it would be difficult to initiate research without citing previous studies that relate to scientific aspects of Chinese astrology.
About 15 years ago, while reading neuroscience textbooks, I was excited to learn that scientists discovered conclusive evidence that the gravitational influence of the moon directly affects cell development on Earth. This was a lightbulb moment for me. It was at this moment I developed a theory about how Chinese astrology (or lunar astrology) can be scientifically researched. The moon, and its influences on our planet as it pertains to cell development, have been studied empirically with verified results. For this reason, I believe it is scientifically possible to study the moon’s influence on human cell development-specifically brain cell development, specifically during the gestation period, and specifically as it pertains to personality and behavior areas of the brain. This would likely require longitudinal studies beyond the span of my lifetime, but I believe it is important to begin the research. I will write more about this in future columns.
