Colleen Frances DeGroat, 84, of Cottage Grove, Oregon, passed away on Oct. 24, 2019 in Cottage Grove following a stroke.
She was born in Sweet Home, Oregon, on Feb. 20, 1935 to parents Clifford and Gladys (Howes) Groat. She graduated from Cottage Grove High School and attended Lane Community College, studying psychology.
Colleen was a wonderful painter and artist. She loved to crochet and read. But most of all, raising her eight children was her priority. She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Cottage Grove.
Colleen leaves behind her children: Patricia Roe Fowler of Junction City, Oregon; son David Roe of the Oregon coast; daughter Robin Kephart of Cottage Grove; son John Roe of Springfield, Ore.; daughter Michelle Peters, of Wy.; daughter Aysha Al Norri, of Creswell; son Shawn Orcutt, of Yoncalla, Ore.; and daughter Willow Hurst, of Cottage Grove; and numerous grandchildren.
A private memorial service will be held in June 2020. Arrangements are in the care of Smith-Lund-Mills Funeral Chapel in Cottage Grove.
