SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield Alliance for Equity and Respect (SAfER) hosted the annual Huerta/Chávez Celebration April 11 at Hamlin Middle School.
Springfield students and teachers from elementary school through high school attended the event to celebrate Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chávez and raise awareness for social justice.
Presenters spoke in both English and Spanish as they emphasized the lives of Huerta and Chávez; many awards were given out; and lively performances by elementary school students in the Guy Lee Dual Immersion Program Singers and high school students in Springfield High School’s Mariachi del Sol got the gym dancing along.
