SCOTT OLSON/THE CRESWELL CHRONICLE
Lane County Sheriff’s Sergeant Scott Denham, the contract sergeant for Creswell, is shown putting up a new radar sign in the 400 blk. of N. 1st St. on Monday, July 16. Creswell received two radar signs from a grant through the Department of Public Safety and Standards. The cost of the two signs was slightly over $6,800. According to Sgt. Denham, the signs are very accurate and very bright. Each sign is able to collect data on motorists passing by the sign. The collected data can be put into graphs showing traffic speeds during specific days and times. Sgt. Denham said the sign will start picking up a signal with motorists traveling 15 miles per hour and as the speeds increase the sign will flash faster.
