Through the Eyes of the Colonel: Creswell’s Fourth of July celebration was a wonderful display of patriotism

The July 4th celebration was an absolute wonderful display of Patriotism, loyalty and dedication. Our city can be proud of itself in our continuing efforts to recognize and remember our heritage.

The Chamber of Commerce, which is the organization that coordinated the entire efforts expended for our celebration, is to be commended.

I believe the parade, fireworks display, the pancake breakfast and car show were outstanding successes. Sure there were some problems, but I believe they were minor. It is difficult to get volunteers, but those persons who came forward did outstanding work.

One new attraction was the car show at Emerald Valley Golf & Resort. Scott Olson and his crew from The Chronicle newspaper coordinated the show. About 40 cars were on display, there was a Bar-B-Que lunch, a wonderful band that entertained and Creswell Coffee had their portable coffee wagon present. Proceeds were donated to the chamber to assist in costs for the celebration.

I am proud and compliment all the volunteers for the wonderful work they did, and the success of this observance was outstanding.
