April 18, 2019

The Bulldog boys finished 11th in a field of 22 teams – many from larger schools – and Creswell's track and field team set personal records and season's best times while competing in the well-attended Prefontaine Rotary Invitational, held April 13 in Coos Bay.

Gauge Smith once again paced the Bulldogs, placing third of 67 runners in the 100 meters with a time of 11.71a, and third of 51 runners in the 200 meters in 23.43a. In both races, Smith finished behind just two runners from 5A North Bend: winner Jonathan Chilcote and second-place finisher Jake Posey.

Smith also placed fifth in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 42.95a.

Nick Bronson placed fourth in the 110-meter high hurdles in 16.46a and sixth in the 300m hurdles in a season's best time of 43.34a.

For the Creswell girls, Kendyl Seiber set a personal record in two events, placing 10th in the 300-meter intermediate hurdles with a PR of 52.91a and 15th in the 100-meter high hurdles with a PR of 19.01a.

Shelby Lamm placed 10th in the 200m in 28.78a and tied for 22nd in the 100m in a season's best 14.07a.

Three Bulldogs recorded PRs in the boys' 3000 meters as Brandon Moehlmann placed 14th in 10:11.44a, Cam Nguyen placed 15th in 10:16.19a and Jackson Velarde placed 23rd in 10:26.12a.

In the 800m, Josiah Lee placed 17th in a PR of 2:15.03 while Grant Marshall finished 29th in a season's best 2:22.39a and Chance Hemenway was 46th in a PR of 2:50.34a.

Grant Marshall placed 20th in the triple jump at 35-09.75; Payden Criddle was 21st in the triple jump at 35-09.25 and 22nd in the high jump at 5-0.

Also setting PRs at the Prefontaine Rotary Invitational were Caden Walker in the 100m, Hugo Taura in the 400m, Chance Hemenway and Trevor Harrold in the mile, and Reece Germen in the discus and the javelin.

For the Lady Dawgs, Harmony Goodman set a PR in two events, placing 25th in the mile in 6:48.37a and 29th in the 800m in 3:02.47a. Allison Smathers also set a PR in the mile, in 6:59.91a, while Merrily Arnold set a personal record of 13-01 in the long jump.

This week, the Bulldogs travel to Douglas for a 3A Special District 4 Central Region meet. The district is a new one for Creswell this year and includes Harrisburg, Pleasant Hill, Douglas, Sutherlin, South Umpqua, Cascade Christian, St. Mary's (Medford) and Brookings-Harbor.
