Black's arm, Hatch's bat help Lady Dawgs tame Lions

Pleasant Hill's Maddy Woodward placed first in the girls' 800 and 1500 meters at the Pleasant Hill Icebreaker track and field meet March 13.

Pitcher Destiney Black gave up two earned runs on five hits, struck out nine and walked one, and Aubrie Hatch smacked two doubles in going 2-for-3 with four RBIs and three runs as the Lady Dawgs opened their nonleague softball season with a 22-2 five-inning blowout of host Jefferson on March 11.

The Lady Dawgs were up 14-1 after the second inning and added four more in the fourth and the fifth. With the lead never in doubt, Creswell substituted freely.

"It was good to get all the players that traveled with us into the game," said head coach Brett Giles.
