During the mural celebration, guest speaker amd artist, Esteban Camacho Steffensen, is seen with the mural in the background. Funds for the mural came from a grant from the Springfield Rotary Foundation. Steffensen supervised volunteers from the church, A3 High School, and the Rotary Club of Springfield over a three-week process, followed by finishing touches made by the artist.

Ebbert United Methodist Church at 532 C Street in Springfield is celebrating 150 years as a congregation in 2018. Two recent events held in conjunction with the celebration were a mural dedication and an historic hayride.

An historic hayride was held, where volunteer "actors" like David English, Laura Littlejohn and Jim English, from the congregation told of the church's early history. Hayriders visited five sites used by the congregation in the downtown Springfield area before the current building was built in 1916.
