Jesika Heikkinen, driver and operator for Creswell Lane County Waste Management at 34293 Cloverdale Road, shows off some electronic items that can now be recycled at this location.

Lane County Waste Management's Creswell location at at 34293 Cloverdale Road is now accepting accepting computers, TVs and other electronics for recycling.

This free recycling opportunity comes with a great desire to keep electronics out of the dumpsters, off the sides of the roads and out of the landfills, said Greg Betts, senior transfer supervisor at the Creswell location. TVs, monitors, computers and laptops are banned from Oregon landfills by law.

This service applies to intact items only, said Jesika Heikkinen, driver and operator for the Creswell station. Items are limited to seven items per visit. If items are dismantled or have parts missing, the customer will be charged fees to cover costs to recycle the unwanted portion. Broken items must have all parts contained safely in a box or bag, Heikkinen said.

Other accepted devices include office and home electronics, printers, fax and phone machines, VCRs, DVD players and stereos. Non-approved electronics consist of items over 50 pounds, copy machines larger than desktop size and commercial-use electronics.

The Creswell station offers a full range of recycling options including collection of auto batteries, appliances, motor oil, electronics, tires and more.

Plastics that Lane County is temporarily not accepting for recycling include plastic bags, film, milk cartons, aseptic soup/juice boxes and all other plastics except for milk jugs.

Rattlesnake and Marcola transfer stations are now also accepting electronics. The Glenwood, Florence, Cottage Grove, Oakridge, Veneta and Vida transfer stations already supported the recycling of electronics.

Creswell Lane County Waste Management is open Wednesdays through Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The site is closed Mondays through Tuesdays. For more information, call 541-895-3274.
