The fireworks won’t start until the evening, but there will be plenty of live music lighting up the stages in Springfield and Creswell on the Fourth of July.
Springfield gets the ball rolling with two stages at Island Park for the Light of Liberty 2023, which will donate all funds raised to Project Share, which helps low-income Springfield residents pay their electric bills.
Jet Harris and his Hotrod Hellcats kick things off on the Island Park Main Stage at 4:30 p.m., followed by the Greg Nestler Band at 6 p.m. and ABBAcadabra – the ultimate ABBA tribute band, at 8 p.m.
On the Music Stage, Deva Priyo & Gypsy Moon begin at 5 p.m., followed by Kudana Marimba at 7 p.m.
The fireworks show, which begins at 10, will be simulcast on KRVM-FM 91.9.
In Creswell, there will be assorted games, vendors, food, and live music from 10 a.m to 4 p.m., including the Oregon Tuba Ensemble, the island sounds of Richie G & MA Beat, the Cascade Kids from the ACE Charter School in Cottage Grove, and finally, at 2:30 p.m., the Higher Ground Band, featuring the rocking guitar of Creswell’s own Ransom Briggs.
Prior to the fireworks show at dusk, there will be evening entertainment at Creswell High School provided by Pendleton Highway. Four of the country-rock band’s members are Springfield residents: band leader Jimmy Smith, his wife Kim, his daughter Becca Horsley, and bass player Rich Lee.
