CORRECTION: A Letter to the Editor in the Feb. 8 edition of The Creswell Chronicle about the Friends of the Creswell Library’s upcoming book sale included incorrect dates for the sales. The correct dates are March 16 through 18.

Dear Editor,

The Friends of the Creswell Library will be holding their annual book sale in March at the Creswell Community Center located at South 1st and C streets. A preview sale will be held on Friday, March 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. It is free for Friends of the Creswell Library members or $5 for general admission. On Saturday, March 10, the sale is free to the public from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Sunday, March 11, the sale is from noon to 4 p.m.
Thr Friends prepare for the book sale all year by gladly accepting donations of books, magazines, CDs, DVDs, records, puzzles and videos. You may donate your used or new items to Creswell Library by dropping off a box or bag at the library desk or letting the library know you have donations. We accept all books except encyclopedias and books that are moldy or damaged.
This year, we have a larger variety of books in many categories to purchase. On Saturday, prices range from $2 for hardback books and $1 for softcover and paperback books. Magazines are 25 cents or five for $1. On Sunday, books are buy one, get one free.
We have received some interesting donations this year. An extensive collection of National Geographic magazines going back to the 1930s are available. They are a wonderful source of history and look great filling bookshelves with their bright yellow covers. We also received a large box of stage plays and a vintage record collection of pop songs from the 1960s. For science fiction fans, there are many Star Trek paperbacks this year. Romance paperbacks are back! There are paranormal, love-inspired, historical, western and suspense romances.
Our selection of old books is good with children’s primers included. We have also received many war and military books, softcover novels, cookbooks, self-help and spiritual reading, suspense and mystery books and biographies. A new category, metaphysical/paranormal books will be for sale.
For crafters, we have vintage Reader’s Digest condensed books. Pinterest shows many ways to use these books in crafting. Another great source for crafting are old atlases with their graphic maps, and vintage illustrated dictionaries. You be not be disappointed by our offerings this year!
The nonprofit Friends of the Creswell Library was formed to support the Library by assisting with programs, events and fundraising. Much of what is earned through the book sale goes to help with the Building Fund for the Creswell Library Expansion. If you are interested in joining Friends, dues are only $5 a year.
The Friends always need volunteers to help sort and pack books during the year and to help set up the book sale. A volunteer sign-up sheet for the sale is located at the Library front desk. We very much appreciate all your donations and help for this events. Thank you for your past donations and volunteer service which adds so much to our community.
