On May 25, 2018, Newport Fish and Wildlife troopers were called to an area outside of Toledo to investigate a poached deer. Investigation has shown the deer was shot in the head with a small-caliber rifle. The remains of the deer were located on Sunnyridge Road near 1000 Line Road.
A reward of up to $500 is offered for information leading to the issuance of a citation to a person(s) or an arrest made in this case. The reward is comprised of $500 from the Oregon Hunting Association Turn-In-poachers (TIP) program.
The Oregon Hunters Association offers rewards to persons, through their T.I.P. fund, for information leading to the issuance of a citation to a person(s), or an arrest made of a person(s) for illegal possession, killing or taking of bighorn sheep, mountain goat, moose, elk, deer, antelope, bear, cougar, wolf, furbearers and/or upland game birds and waterfowl.
T.I.P. rewards can also be paid for the illegal taking, netting, snagging and/or dynamiting of game fish and/or shellfish, and for the destruction of habitat.
