Mark Monsive

Mark Monsive, 60, of Cottage Grove passed away, from unexpected natural causes, on March 22, 2020. Mark was born April 14, 1959, in San Jose, Calif., to Eugene and Jean(Rankin) Monsive.

He was a longtime resident of Cottage Grove and moved to Oregon with his parents in 1969 from California. He graduated from Cottage Grove High School in 1977 and was on the track team.

On Sept. 17, 1987, in Reno, Nev., he married Devone Marie Lockard.

Mark worked for LaValle’s Carbide, Weyerhaeuser and Log House Plants. Mark was an avid greenhouse gardener and enjoyed playing computer games. He had a big heart and was known as the “Gentle Giant” among his friends.

He is survived by his loving wife, Devone Monsive, his father, Eugene Monsive of Cottage

Grove, two brothers and their wives, Tom (Debra) Monsive of Cottage Grove and Robert (Colette) Monsive of St. Helens, and numerous nieces and nephews. He also leaves Tea, his devoted dog. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lorena Jean Monsive and a sister, Pamela Jean Monsive.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Humane Society of Cottage Grove.

The family plans to hold a Memorial gathering once the current pandemic restrictions are lifted and it is safe for all.
