When you gotta go…’ Grange play ‘goes’ where everyone has gone before

”Black Bart” (Tom Pearson) holds his nose while emerging from a stagecoach station outhouse as ”Annie OK” (Vickie Weathers) and ”Deadeye Dick” (Stan Garboden) look on as Creswell Grange performs a play entitled ”When You Gotta Go, You Gotta Go” at the Grange Hall last week. GINI DAVIS – THE CRESWELL CHRONICLE

A rollicking good time was had by all as Creswell Grange members performed a seat-slapping one-act play and hosted plays by the Crow and Goshen granges on May 11 at the Grange Hall.
Creswell’s play was titled ”When You Gotta Go, You Gotta Go,” and it was about…well, the setting was an Old West stagecoach station and the customers who visit it – and its rough-hewn, crescent moon-windowed outhouse – while waiting for the stage, so…yeah.
Cast members were Stan Garboden as Deadeye Dick, Tom Pearson as Black Bart, Vickie Weathers as Annie OK and Dottie Jennings as the Dance Hall Girl.
Creswell was one of nine area granges hosting and performing 20- to 30-minute plays during April and May during the annual Grange Play Festival. Creswell Grange members also performed their play on April 24 at the Jasper Grange and April 30 at the Mohawk-McKenzie Grange.
At the end of the free event, refreshments were served, and four free door prize baskets were raffled. A larger prize basket was also raffled, at $1 per ticket.
Organizers note that the annual play festival is great family fun and a wonderful way to support local granges while enjoying some good old-fashioned comedy.
