Creswell resident dies from stabbing

CRESWELL – A Creswell resident died after being stabbed by his girlfriend’s ex-husband on Aug. 5 on Cloverdale Road.

Deputy and medic attempts to revive Justin Wayne Gardner, 49, of Creswell, on the scene were unsuccessful.

Around 1:05 a.m., the Lane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call that someone had been stabbed at a residence in the 84000 block of Cloverdale Road. The caller advised that her ex-husband had stabbed her boyfriend before departing the location on foot.

An extensive area search was conducted for the suspect, Brandon Travis Lamb, 42; however the suspect was not immediately located. County, state and Springfield police later tracked Lamb to an apartment complex near 1st and F streets in Springfield. He was found in a vehicle in the parking lot and taken into custody without incident.

Police records reveal Lamb has had an extensive rap sheet dating back to 2018. He was arrested in 2018 by Springfield Police on three felony charges for possession of methamphetamine, and again later that year on the same felony charge, in addition to a parole violation.

In 2019, Lamb was arrested again, this time by LCSO, for a parole violation, and again three days later for the same charge.

In 2021, Springfield Police arrested and charged him with another felony charge for possession of methamphetamine; he violated his parole five months later and was again taken to jail. A month after that release, he was arrested by Springfield Police for two misdeamonors – violating a restraining order and contempt of court, where he served jail time for almost four days before being released.

Lamb will be lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges including Assault in the Second Degree. This case is still under active investigation.
