Douglas Wayne Cole Deceased: July 3, 2022

On July 3, 2022, our beloved husband, father, and grandfather was called home to Heaven after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was born in Springfield, Ore. to George and Kathryn Cole and was the middle brother to Ed Cole and Larry Cole. He attended Springfield High School graduating in 1955 and maintained a close relationship with his classmates his entire life. He married Joanne McDonald in 1958 and had three daughters, Kelly Boggs, Lori Blank and Stephanie Hoos. Doug had eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Doug and Joanne would have celebrated 64 years of marriage this December. In 1970, Doug and Joanne purchased their first restaurant, Ron’s Drive-In and changed it to The Heritage Family Restaurant. Expanding his business in Springfield, Doug purchased Ed’s Pancake House and changed that to The Heritage as well. In 1991 Doug rebranded again and created The Ford Grill in Springfield. Doug was interested in many things from water skiing, snow skiing, scuba diving, wood working, traveling and most of all sharing his love of the Lord. He supported Campus Life and Young Life for many years. His greatest treasures were his faith in his Lord and his love for his family. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ed Cole and his son in law Curt Boggs. There will be a Celebration of Life at Along Came Trudys, 1488 18th St., Springfield, on Tuesday July 26 from 2-4 p.m.
