Steven L. “Steve” Mercer passed away June 27, 2022 at his home in Dexter, Ore. He was born May 19, 1956 to Stanley and Shirley Mercer in Marlborough, Mass. On Oct. 20, 1979 he married Nancy Holley in Simi Valley, Calif. They moved to Ore. in 1981 and had two children, Chris and Casey. He owned Steve’s Performance Machine Shop in Dexter for 40 years. He was also a board member for the Dexter Rural Fire Department. Steve was semi-retired. He loved golf and entertaining his 4 granddaughters. Steve was preceded in death by his father, Stanley Mercer Sr. He is survived by his wife, Nancy, of Dexter, son Chris Mercer of Eugene, daughter Casey (Jeramy) Carroll of Springfield, mother Shirley Leber of Springfield, daughter-in-law Elizabeth White of Eugene, 4 granddaughters Alice, Brooklynn, Alira and Tylar along with 1 more grandchild on the way. To honor Steve’s memory, we are holding a celebration of his life on Aug. 6 from 1-4 at Elijah Bristow State Park. We invite anyone who knew him to attend and remember his wonderful life.
