Chronicle earns 14 awards in ONPA contest

The Chronicle earned 14 awards in the Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association’s annual Better Newspaper Contest. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd-place positions will be released at the ONPA convention later this month, as will any awards for advertising design. 

The Chronicle has earned 41 ONPA awards the past three years under the guidance of executive editor Erin Tierney-Heggenstaller.

The 14 awards included recognition for The Chronicle’s best Headline Writing (Ron Hartman), Best Special Section or Issue (Emerald Valley Almanac annual), Best Editorial Pages (January, March, August), Best Educational Coverage (Dana Merryday), Best Feature Story (Hartman), Best Lifestyle Coverage (Tierney), Best Lifestyle Coverage (Tierney), Best Local Column (Noel Nash), Best Local Column (Tierney), Best Spot News Coverage (Staff), Best Graphics (Staff), Best Photo Essay (Emma Routley), and Best Online Coverage of Breaking News (Staff).
