Cottage Grove Police Log: May 24-26

TUESDAY, MAY 24

12:55 am: Warrant service, 1557 Hwy. 99

Summary: Officer contacted and arrested Rene Armando Coronel Rendon for felony warrants.

1 am: DUII, 1557 Hwy. 99

Summary: Officer contacted and arrested Rene Armando Coronel Rendon for Felony DUII.

2:58 am: Violation of restraining order, 1102 Hillside Dr.

Summary: Jacob Cook violated a restraining order when he returned to 1102 Hillside Dr. Cook committed the crime of criminal mischief in the first degree when he intentionally damaged property and had no right to do so and the damage exceeded $1,000.

7:39 am: Assault, 1039 Adams Ave.

Summary: Officer arrested Ryan O’Neal McTaggart for Felony Assault 4.

1:43 pm: Abandoned vehicle, 1248 Ostrander Ln.

Summary: Officer tagged a 1997 Honda SUV that was parked near a fire hydrant.

10:17 pm: Assault, 207 Pond Turtle

Summary: Officer contacted and arrested Alea Ciel Henderson Felony Assault 4 and Recklessly Endangering. Richard Moore reported having his 21 Speed Dark Blue Aspen Mountain bike stolen from the area of Opal Park at approximately 2:15 p.m. Moore stated that it was left unsecured and unattended for about an hour, but left without the rear wheel.

4:03 pm: Dispute, 220 N. 8th St.

Summary: Officer was dispatched for a theft/criminal mischief report. The victim, Maia Morgan, advised that her ex-boyfriend (Nathaniel Deyoung) took her property and burned it. A video was on a social media website called Snapchat and Morgan observed her property being destroyed. While investigating this, the officer found that Deyoung damaged pipes, wood, and the side of the building of the apartment complex. The South Lane Fire Department had to respond and seize the fire. Deyoung and others (unknown) were assisting with this incident. Morgan did not want to pursue criminal charges but Deyoung placed the entire apartment at risk of injury by not containing the fire and having it ignite.

5:28 pm: Shoplifting theft, 822 W. Main St.

Summary: Staff at Sunshine General Store reported a bearded male approximately 25 years old stealing two packs of Newport 100 cigarettes by leaving the store without paying. It was said that the individual left as a passenger in a 2022 Blue Volkswagen bearing OR Plate# 240NLT. The total theft amount was $20.50.

7:16 pm: Dog impounded

Summary: Officer was advised by dispatch that someone had found a dog on Gateway and Harvey. Officer took pictures of the tan male shih tzu and posted him to the Cottage Grove Police Department Facebook page. Upon further investigation dispatch was able to locate owner Mark Andrews via his chip registration. Dog was lodged at the kennels pending owner contact.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 25 12:55 am: Property found, 1375 S. River Rd.

Summary: Officer recovered and lodged a Black 24 Speed mountain bike located abandoned near spirit trail behind Cottage Grove High.

1:55 am: Warrant service, 1000 E. Main St.

Summary: Matthew Allen Haladay was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and lodged at the Lane County Circuit Court.

11:36 am: Fraud, 333 E. Monroe Ave.

Summary: Darrell Cranford contacted the CGPD to report online fraudulent activity on his U.S. Bank checking account via fraudulent use of his debit card number. Cranford noticed the fraudulent activity via a U.S. Bank fraud alert, alerting his cell phone. He contacted his bank and immediately froze the account, but not until after $1,500 was withdrawn via a “Cashapp” on two separate transactions. Officer gave Cranford a case number.

11:42 am: Theft, 901 Row River Rd.

Summary: Officer took a report of a stolen wallet from a shopping cart in the WalMart parking lot. The wallet is described as a brown “Louis Vuitton” look alike, which contained the victim’s Oregon and Texas driver licenses, two CGHS identification cards, a Northwest Community CU debit card, a Capital One credit card (both issued to the victim) and $70 cash (three $20 bills and one $10 bill). No security cameras were available for review today. 

2:40 pm: Warrant service, 1050 Ostrander Ln.

Summary: Summer Tracy was contacted on a disturbance call. Tracy was ultimately arrested on Roseburg Municipal Court Warrant #21320108RSP for failing to appear for an unlawful possession of a firearm charge. Tracy was identified by name, date of birth, and social security number and transported without further incident to Lane County Jail where she would be later transported accordingly.

WEDNESDAY, MAY 25 7:59 am: DUII, 911 E. Main St.

Summary: Johnathan Ray McAlester was provided a court date and time to appear.

9:45 am: Park exclusion, 1400 N. Douglas St.

Summary: Officer conducted a follow-up investigation for case #20220954. In the process of conducting the follow-up, he issued a park exclusion to Kenneth Milton for smoking methamphetamine inside a city owned park. The exclusion expires in (30) days.

THURSDAY, MAY 26 9:37 am: Harassment/Threats, 1375 S. River Rd.

Summary: A student was cited UTC# 47651 and released at Cottage Grove High School for O.R.S. 166.065 Physical Harassment after punching another student in the face, ultimately leaving a red mark and causing a throbbing pain to the left side of her head. This altercation was a result of a female losing her temper after both involved parties were verbally arguing/fighting during the passing period between 1st and 2nd period of the day. The student was counseled about her behavior and sent home for the day with a citation. The victim was released after being seen by the school nurse and went home as well for the day.

10:34 am: Trespassing, 700 E. Gibbs Ave.

Summary: Officer was dispatched for a disorderly female attempting to start a fight between two males. Officer J. Butler learned the female (Susanne Reynolds) had left for a nearby laundromat. Reynolds was trespassed from 700 East Gibbs in the CGPD system. However, when a search was completed, the officer located no report and lacked details from the original officers who responded.

12:43 pm: Trespassing, 100 Gateway Blvd.

Summary: Joseph Stanford was found to be shopping within the business of Bi-Mart in Cottage Grove after being previously trespassed by the CGPD at the request of the business staff. Stanford was located by CGPD officers on 5/27/22 and cited in lieu of custody for the charge of Trespass in the Second Degree due to the business wishing to pursue charges.

4:40 pm: Trespassing, 1200 E. Main St.

Summary: James Alan Cole was found by CGPD officers to be trespassing at a closed warming shelter site, which is owned by the City of Cottage Grove. The warming shelter was padlocked and secured by a perimeter six-foot chain link fence which Cole had to scale over to gain entry into the property. Cole was placed into custody without incident, and ultimately cited in lieu of custody for the charge of Trespass in the Second Degree. Cole was then released to the South Lane Mental Health Staff for treatment.
