On April 19, 2022 our beloved mother Anna Pauline Mullins, peacefully passed away at her home in Fall Creek, Oregon at the age of 88. Pauline, the youngest of four children, was born on Dec. 8, 1933 in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains in Mill Creek, Va. to her parents Sarah (Whittaker) and Willard Powers.
In 1952, Pauline graduated from Christopher Gist High School in Pound, Virginia and on August 14th, 1952, she married Charles Willard Mullins. Charles and Pauline soon headed west and settled in Springfield, Or., and in 1963, they moved to Fall Creek where they resided for the remainder of their lives. They were blessed with the births of three sons, Daniel, David, and Douglas.
Pauline’s professional career began in the printing department at the University of Oregon where she became the University’s first female journeyman book binder and later worked in the printing department at Lane Community College until her retirement.
Pauline was socially active in a variety of organizations and clubs, she loved to sing and she was a member of the local chapter of the Sweet Adelines for 10 years. In 1975, Charles and Pauline joined the Traditional Jazz Society of Oregon where she was a member of the Board of Directors for 45 years.
Charles and Pauline loved to dance and traveled to many traditional jazz music festivals over the years. They also hosted countless jazz parties for a wide circle of friends at their beautiful creekside home. One of Pauline’s best qualities were her people skills; she was exceptionally friendly, outgoing and loved by all who came to know her. She always went out of her way to welcome people into her home and make them feel comfortable. Pauline also had artistic talents, she loved to paint and sew quilts. She shared her beautiful works of art by giving them to her friends and family members. Pauline will be greatly missed by her community, her friends and her family.
Pauline is survived by her sons Daniel Mullins and wife Debra of Rockaway Beach, OR, Douglas Mullins and partner Cynthia Brewer of Fall Creek, her grandchildren Rebecca Williams and wife Annette Leonard of Eugene, Alex Stanley and wife Tonya of Milton, Fla., Kenneth Mullins of Portland, Ore. as well as her great-granddaughters, Olivia, Isabelle and Charlotte. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Charles in 2008 and her son David in 2009.
