Rod was born on April 30, 1945 , in Frederic, Wis. to Elliott and Florence Eriksen. Rod married Sharon Allen on March 19, 1965. He worked for 42 years as a crane operator in mill construction and maintenance for Bohemia Inc., Willamette Industries, retiring from Weyerhaeuser.
He was a kind and loving man, a devoted husband, father and grandfather. Rod taught adult Bible study classes and spent many years alongside Sharon teaching and serving the children of Cottage Grove in Sunday School and Released Time Bible classes. His many interests included woodworking, exploring Oregon hiking trails, hunting, and anything his grandkids were involved in.
Rod is survived by his loving wife, Sharon, of 57 years; daughter, Angie Ironside and Allan of Alberta, Canada; son, Jason Eriksen and Laura of Cottage Grove; 3 grandsons and 5 great-grandsons; sister, Sharon Michener and Gary of Hutchinson, Kan; brother, Gene Eriksen of Cottage Grove; sister, Bonnie Montague and Jerry of Liberty Lake, Wash.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on May 28, 2022, at First Baptist Church, 301 S. 6th Street, Cottage Grove.
