Robert’s Ramblings: The season of rebirth always lifts my spirits

The season of rebirth always lifts my spirits

“When through the woods and forest glades I wander,

and hear the birds sing sweetly in the trees;

when I look down from lofty mountain grandeur

and hear the brook, and feel the gentle breeze;

Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee;

how great thou art, how great thou art!”

– Stuart K. Hine, “How Great Thou Art”

Springtime is one of my favorite times of the year, but all the seasons have something good. In the spring I watch for a variety of birds as they return, and, with anticipation, wait for the first daffodils to bloom.

As I write this, springtime is truly here, and I have had the opportunity to walk through the woods, and dig up and transplant perennials and shrubs. For me it is a wonderful time, even though my body has complained about the digging. I remember that my mother had some of her favorite plants: her roses along the driveway of our home, the perennials in her flower boxes, and of course the first daffodils of spring. I have been blessed to have wandered through the woods of three continents and a variety of climates, and have been amazed by the beauty there as well as here.

“Then sings my soul, my Savior God to thee; how great thou art!” In the springtime I watch for the miracles that God has shown to me. I am amazed at the beauty of springtime!

I am amazed by the sights, the smells, the sounds that greet me as I wander. I am amazed by the beauty of the rebirth of our Earth! I am amazed by the Artist, the Biologist, the Sculptor, the ALL … the amazing being that is our God!

In this season of rebirth and Resurrection, may you be truly blessed.
