Tom Mac Cully of Kearney, Neb., and formerly of Creswell and Eugene, passed away on Nov. 5, 2020 from respiratory failure due to COVID-19. He was 78 years old.

Tom was born on Aug. 28, 1942 in Shattuck, Okla., to Lloyd and Theda Boone Cully. He was the oldest of their three children. The first 11 years of his life were spent on his parents’ farm in Gage, Okla. In the early 1950s, his family moved to Eugene, Ore. While in Eugene, he attended school at Cal Young Middle School and North Eugene High School where he graduated in the first Senior Class in 1960, and attended the University of Oregon for a time.

On Aug. 17, 1968 he married Janice Bevans in his parents’ home in Eugene. Their daughter, Elizabeth, was born later that year. They divorced several years later. A few years later, Tom met Kathryn Grimes, and their daughter Rachel was born in 1983. He was with Kathryn until her passing in 2015.

During the 1960s and 70s, Tom worked for his father as the manager of Lloyd’s Dairy on Dale Kuni Road in Creswell. In the early 1980s he worked for his parents as property manager for their apartment complex on Mary Neal Lane, also in Creswell. He officially retired in December 2017, and soon after, moved to Kearney, Neb.

Tom enjoyed road trips. From traveling to several other states, as well as Canada and Mexico with his family in his classic cars to solo trips to the coast in his treasured Corvette. He also enjoyed going to car shows during the summer.

Tom loved animals, from the family dogs, his cats, plus several neighborhood cats, to the wild birds and squirrels he fed every morning. He took daily walks around Creswell in the early morning, returning the greeting of those who saw him.

He also enjoyed relaxing in his recliner in the evenings, and watching his favorite shows on tv. He also enjoyed baking, and making birthday cakes and desserts for various family gatherings.

Tom is survived by his daughters, Elizabeth Prociw (Kevin) of Creswell, Rachel Kish (Matthew) of Kearney, Neb.; grandchildren, Heather Ward (Josef) & Kylin Prociw of Creswell, and Dylan, Brody, & Aria Kish of Kearney. He is also survived by his brother Michael Cully (Ann) of Gstaad, Switzerland, and by his sister Trudy Cully of Medford, as well as a nephew, two nieces and several cousins.
